Golf Club Lugano: a love story
In 1915, Erwin von Riedemann and his beloved wife Josefa moved from Germany to Lugano. Josefa was a passionate golfer, and to show his love for her, Erwin founded one of the first golf courses in Switzerland. Situated in Magliaso, it opened on 24 November 1923 and stretches out on flat terrain on the banks of the Magliasina River. With birch, oak, fir and ash trees flanking the fairways, not to mention rhododendrons, oleanders and azaleas, it is home to abundant wildlife.
